Amy Cannon is an agent in the commercial lines department for Bisnett since 2014 (acquired in 2018 from Fullhart Insurance). Amy spent the majority of her life and 20 year insurance career in Oregon. Prior to Bisnett Insurance, she worked for an agency in McMinnville OR for 14 years where she specialized in commercial insurance, specifically the construction industry. Amy was active in the Insurance Professionals of Yamhill County, the local chapter of the National Association of Insurance Women where she served for six years on the board and was also part of the local Toastmasters.
Her main area of focus continues to be Commercial Insurance. “Our work may be not be saving lives, but hopefully the work we do protects the assets and interests of businesses and our clients, saving them from the devastation and financial crisis a major loss can cause.” On customer service, she says “I tell my clients all the time, I’m literally waiting for your call”. Amy believes relationship building is a vital aspect of working with clients, colleagues and our carrier partners. “We’re all humans, living, working and striving to be the best we can, in every aspect of life. It’s my job and honor to assess and meet the insurance needs of our clients, to work hand in hand with my colleagues to achieve that goal, and to discern which of our fine carriers will meet our client’s needs. I also firmly believe it’s necessary to understand the human aspect relative to all facets, clients, carriers and colleagues alike, we’re not just numbers or cogs in the wheel. We have families, churches, communities that we live, work and serve in, and it’s important to remember that. Jon Smith isn’t just a voice on the other end of the phone, his son just got a basketball scholarship to his alma mater. These details are important to clients, therefore they are to me as well.”
On being a team player “we’re a great group of agents who, when we come together comprise one great super-agent”. Bisnett has multiple offices throughout the region with agents who specialize in a myriad of industries. Bisnett provides amazing tools and opportunities for colleagues to share their experience and insurance knowledge with each other, to assist one another with ease when tackling challenging insurance needs. It’s awesome to be able to pick up the phone or shoot an email out and have half dozen people respond with solutions. “I’ve always been solution oriented. While it is very important to understand a problem or it’s nature, it’s vital to find the solution, in whatever circumstance or scenario”.
Having relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana to be near family -Amy believes family is her greatest treasure. “It’s a great blessing to be with family all the time. To sit down and be thankful at the end of every day, everyone is home safe and we’re all settled in for another evening of fellowship and sharing about our day. It keeps life in perspective as to why we do what we do every day-the hope that all families get to sit down in comfort and ease without little worries in life (like insurance) getting in the way.
Amy enjoys spending as much free time with her family as possible, with hobbies that include reading and studying history and Christianity, card making, writing, shopping, and cooking.
